Bio

Linnie Mae Moffitt passed away on June 21 at Castle Rock Care Center in Castle Rock. Linnie Mae was born in Ashby Nebraska on July 29 1921 to Rosa Olson and Lee Chrisman. She married Hiram Pew in 1940, and they moved to Larkspur, Co in 1943. She was also married to William Moffitt in 1993. A third husband was a Folger. Mae Pew (as she was known) was a rural school teacher for many years. She taught at Larkspur, Greenland, and Indian Creek schools among others. Mae was co owner of Hi's Western Shop, in Castle Rock for 30 years. An active member of the Douglas County community, Mae was involved in the Chamber of Commerce, DC Fair, and 4H for many years. She retired in Nampa, Idaho where she was a member of the Eagles and did charity work for the City of Hope. Linnie Folger Moffitt was the author of 3 books including Rosa's Rascals. In 2003, Mae returned to the Castle Rock area. She is survived by a son Larry Pew and his wife Sharon of Big Spring, Tx. her daughter Gayla Hogan of Elizabeth, Co. a grandson Joe Pew, and granddaughters Tammi Hausman, Terri Yutzi, Tasha Lima, Hiedi Parker, Monica Dik, Mikayla Anderson, Lacey Holle, and 9 great grandchildren. Linnie was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Lester, and sisters Grace and Alice, and her husbands Hi Pew and William Moffitt. Donations may be to Alzheimer's Ass.
