Bonnie Beasley Obituary Bonnie Mae Beasley, a longtime resident of Dothan, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006, at Boston Medical Center in Boston. She was 81. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City with Dr. James Walters officiating. A graveside service will immediately follow the funeral at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Pell City. The family will receive friends at Kilgroe Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday prior to the funeral. Bonnie Barber Beasley was one of seven children born to John and Grace Evans Barber on May 11, 1925, in Ragland. After graduating from Ragland High School, she worked at the Army Depot in Anniston. During this time she met her husband, Eual L. Beasley, who served during World War II. Following his military service, they were married in Anniston on June 4, 1946. After living in Elgin, Ill., and Memphis, Tenn., in 1955, the happy couple gave birth to their daughter in Birmingham. After moving to Dothan in 1962, Mrs. Beasley continued her career as a homemaker, caring for her husband and daughter and other family members as well. She was an active member of the Westgate Church of Christ. She served the church for many years as a teacher in Sunday school and managed the church's resource center with her husband, who served as a deacon of education. Bonnie Mae Barber Beasley was preceded in death just last year by her husband of 59 years, Eual L. Beasley. She is survived by her daughter and her husband of Boston; her two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her two sisters, Doris Huggins of Athens and Nellie Jean Smith of Dothan; and one brother, Paul Barber, of Gardendale; as well as many nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Smith, Gary Huggins, Ronnie Barber, Terrell DuBose, Tim Smith, Frank Landreth, Mark Wilson and Bryan Powell. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Barber, Houston Alexander, Horace Huggins and Aubrey Smith. Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City, (205) 338-3341, is in charge of arrangements.
