Son of Frank Thomas & Cecilia Agnes (Boro) Zulkoski. Married to Margery Mae Freeman on 6-10-1950 at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Elyria, NE. He was preceded in death by a son, Paul. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Margery of Elyria; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Timothy and Rita of Caldwell, Kan., Blaine and Mary Lou of Loveland, Colo., and R. Lynn of Morris, Fla.; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Angela and Jim Lola of Douglas, Wyo., and Sharon and Clint Shetterly of Burwell; a daughter-in-law, Christine Zulkoski of Caldwell, Kan.; a sister, Domisella Nekuda of Denver; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He attended grade school at Elyria and graduated from Ord High School in 1942. On Dec. 7, 1941, Ralph joined the Merchant Marines. He served as 2nd cook and baker until his honorable discharge on Aug. 15, 1945. After the service he worked as a farm laborer for local farmers. He then took a position with Linder Construction as a steeple jack, cleaning and painting water towers in Nebraska and Oklahoma. In 1952, he began working as a ranch hand in the sand hills and was the foreman from 1959-1966. They moved to the Burwell area in 1967, and Ralph again worked as a farm laborer and also at the Burwell Alfalfa Mill. In 1968, they purchased a farm east of Burwell where they raised corn, alfalfa and had milk cows. Ralph retired in 2004 and the couple the couple moved back to Ralph's birthplace in Elyria. Ralph was a member of the AMVETS, Ord VFW Post 7029, Burwell American Legion Post 298 and the Missouri Valley Mariners Chapter. His hobbies include bird watching, horses, wood working, gardening and reading. Ralph will be remembered as a #1 storyteller. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Irwin; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Anthony Castorino and a brother-in-law, Leonard Nekuda.
