Bio
Bertha Ruth Phelps 81, died Oct. 18, 2006, in Rockvale. She was born in Flomot, Texas, on April 22, 1925, to Elmer Lee and Banksie (King) Smith. She married Charles Phelps on Jan. 4, 1946, in Plainview, Texas, moving to Colorado in 1953 and settling in Canon City in 1980. She is survived by two daughters, Pat (Don) Hansen of Rockvale and Sharry Reynolds of Canon City; 11 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lula (Robert) Avery of Glenrose, Texas, Edna Dale of Vernon, Texas and Mary (Herman) Cozart of Hail Center, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother, three sisters, one great-grandson and two great-great-grandsons. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006, at Holt Family Funeral Home in Canon City. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, at the Holt Chapel of the Garden in Canon City. Burial will follow in Mountain Vale Memorial Garden in Canon City. Arrangements were handled by Holt Family Funeral Home.
