Published in the Athens Review January 17, 1946 Funeral services for Mrs. Corine Slaton Johnston, 36, native of Henderson county, who died Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock at her home in Forest, Mississippi, were held at 1 o'clock at the home of her mother, Mrs. B.C. Slaton, in the Summer Hill community. Burial was in the Liberty Cemetery. Pallbearers were her three brothers, Ray Slaton of Athens, and Taylor and D.W. Slaton of Summer Hill, and her husband's three brothers, Herman, Weston and Owen Johnston. The Carroll and Lehr Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. The body was being shipped to Henderson County and was due to arrive in Athens Thursday and to be met by Carroll and Lehr. Mrs. Johnston was born on December 7, 1909, the daughter of Mrs. B.C. Slaton and the late B.C. Slaton. The latter was born in Murchison. Mrs. Johnston lived in this county and in Athens until four years ago, when she moved to Forest. Besides her mother and three brothers, she is survived by her husband, O.S. Johnston of Forest; two sons, D.O. Parris of Athens and Billy Jack Johnston of Forest; and one sister, Mrs. May McGlaun of Athens.
