Buried Feb 18,2004 Lot 806 Space- 4 Gertrude Winona"Gertie"Facka Feb 4,1912-Feb 14,2004 Gertrude Winona"Gertie"Facka, 92, of Hershey died Feb. 14, 2004, at Centennial Park Retirement Village. She was born Feb. 4, 1912, to Guy Henry and Olive Pearl Smith Cady at Scottsbluff. She moved with her family northeast of Hershey when she was a young girl. She graduated from Hershey High School with the class of 1931.She worked as a housekeeper for Mrs. R. A. Frame. She married Loren Facka in 1932 at North Platte. He preceded her in death June 22, 1990. At the beginning of their married life they lived with his parents, Will and Nona Facka, where Gertrude learned her excellent cooking skills.She and her husband traveled extensively all over the world. Gertie loved chocolate, gambling, trips to the casino, and her friends and social activities. The love of her life was her cocker spaniel "Torchy." Survivors include sister Thelma Knight of Sterling, Colo.; nieces and nephews Ron (Doris) Cady of Graham, Wash., Steve (Jane) Matzen of Rock Hill, S.C. Dennis (Linda) Facka of Kirtland, N.M, Floyd A. Facka also of Kirtland, N.M., Doug (Linda) Facka of Sutherland, and Joan (Don) Johnson of Hershey; special friends Ferne Besack of Fort Collins, Colo., Frank Brownfield of North Platte and the nursing staff at Centennial Park Retirement Village.She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister Hazel and a brother Charles Cady. Services will be Feb. 18, at First United Methodist Church. Burial will be at North Platte Cemetery. The North Platte Bulletin Feb 18,2004
