Bio
Helen was born in Ennis, Texas on August 18, 1922 to Wesley and Matilda Svehlak, who were immigrants from Czechoslovakia, and settled in a farming community near Ennis. Helen was the youngest of nine siblings, all of whom preceded her in death. Helen left Ennis in her late teens moving to the Dallas area, where she worked for John E. Mitchell Co. Helen met her future husband, Bennie Lee Hundley there where they were married August 31, 1946. Helen and Ben owned and operated Hundley Boat Concession for 47 years, the only successful concession, fishing boat, bicycle and paddleboat rental business at White Rock Lake in East Dallas. She befriended many people in her working days at White Rock Lake and was well known and loved for her kindness to all. Helen was also known as making the best chili-dog in town and served at White Rock. Hundley Boat Concession closed August 31, 1994, four days later Ben passed away. In her retirement years, Helen really enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, pro golf on TV, and making trips to various casinos to play the quarter slots. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family and was beloved as the best and sweetest Memo. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ben, and infant son, Bennie Leo, two brothers, and six sisters. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Cheryl Hundley; her daughter and son-in-law, Kay Hundley and Jim Adams; granddaughter, Rebecca Elliott; grandson, Ryan Hundley; granddaughter and son-in-law, April Adams Sebesta and Michael Sebesta, and 2 great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jessica Sebesta, and a host of nieces and nephews, friends, and all her very special friends from White Rock Lake. Helen will be missed so much!
