Bio

Emma Walker Munson, 74, died Thursday, October 22, 1992, peacefully in her sleep at her home. She was born September 18, 1918, in Pleasant Grove, Utah, the daughter of James Henson and Della Cobbley Walker. She married Leo A. Munson on October 12, 1946, in Elko, Nevada. She was raised and educated in Pleasant Grove, graduating from Pleasant Grove High School in 1936. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in English/Elementary Education from Utah State University in 1940. She has lived in Ogden since 1942. She was an active member of the Ogden 55th Ward, where she served as a visiting teacher and stake librarian. Mrs. Munson taught school in Ogden City and Weber County school districts. She touched so many lives through her teaching, her gentleness, and her example. She was a member of the Utah State Retired Teachers Association, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and the University Women's Club. Her greatest joy was in service to her family and in all the wonderful family gatherings she organized. No birthday or holiday went unnoticed. Survived by her husband of Ogden; one son and three daughters, Leo Kevin and Jody Munson, Ogden; Laurel Munson Bain and Walt; Lee Ann Munson Premo and Ray; and Sue Lynn Munson, all Ogden; She was an exemplary grandmother to 11 grandchildren, Chad Brann, Andrea Brann, Erin Bain, Krysten Beesley, Melissa Beesley, Tyler Munson, Heather Munson, Janet Bain Epperson, Pamela Bain Fill, David Bain and Curtis Bain. Also survived by two brothers and one sister, Ben Walker, Pasadena, Calif.; James H. Walker, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Muriel Larsen Wadley, Kaysville. Funeral services will be held Monday, at 1:00 p.m. at the Ogden 55th Ward Chapel, 1401 Country Hills Drive, with Bishop Fred Ulrich officiating. Friends may call at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday at the ward chapel, 12:00 noon, to 12:45 p.m. Interment, Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch.
