Bio
My mother Cordelia "Corky" Phyllis Nichols died Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, in Shawnee at the age of 72. She was born Oct. 4, 1937 in Shawnee to Augusta Lejska. She graduated from Shawnee High School. On Aug. 27, 1956 she married Donald A. Nichols. He passed away on Aug. 12, 1983. She worked at the Shawnee Sylvania Plant and Bentons Café, She worked at Pierres Cleaners at the time of her retirement. Her hobbies included cross stitching, crochet, gardening, reading Janet Ivanovich books, watching her beloved NY Yankees and OU Sooners, and talking. My poor dad I know she is with him now and that she and his niece Kristine are driving him crazy. Mom was preceded in death by my dad, her mother, uncle Joe Lejska Jr; aunt Anna Lejska; grandparents, Josef and and Justina (Simecek) Lejska; and niece, Kristine Drummond. Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl and grand-dog Jack; daughter, Sandra and husband Russ; grandchildren, Matthew, Jared, and Cassandra; grand-cats, Clio and Bubba. Mom successfully fought cancer twice before her third and final diagnosis in 2006. In lieu flowers Donations should be made to: American Cancer Society and or Spar (Saving pets at risk) of Shawnee The family would like to thank the following for their help during this difficult time: Heartland Hospice - Elizabeth, Kim, Kelley, Wanda, and Desiree, Doctor David Holland, Robert and Thelma Benton, daughter, Nancy, Dianne, Linda and Beth, son-in-law, Ronnie Drummond and close family friends and their families, Bob and Kay West, Todd Honeycutt, Tony and Kay Ballard. Graveside service were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, at Fairview Cemetery Pavilian, in Shawnee.
