Information provided by Tankersley Funeral Home ◦SIT Ref Page 667 JONAS MAGNUSON was born in Hagshult parish, Småland, in 1843. His father was a farmer and his son, Jonas, choose the same profession. In 1872 he married Maria Carlson who was born in Ekeberg, Byarum parish, Sweden. The Magnuson family immigrated to America in 1900 and first came to Elgin, Travis County, Texas. He farmed around Elgin, New Sweden and Decker for about five years, and then moved to Jones County in 1906. He had bought land there in the Ericsdale Colony. The old couple now have a simple but beautiful home, where after years of toil, they they have settled for some peaceful years in the autumn of their lives. They are members of the Lutheran Church in Ericsdale. Of thirteen children -all of them born in Sweden- eight have died. Six children died in Sweden, twin boys, girl triplets and one more daughter. Two have died in this country, Judith, who was born in Byarum parish in 1877, and who died in Type, Texas on May 5, 1904, and John, who was born in Byarum in 1892, and who died in Dallas, Texas in 1911. Their daughter Frida, born in 1873, is married to Henry Carlson of Brady, Texas, Gustaf, born 1879, is married to Anna Landquist and lives in Gunter, Texas. Carl was born in 1881, and is married to Thelma Freeberg from El Campo, Texas. They live in Fort Worth, Texas. Oscar was born in 1883, Anders in 1886, and Elin in 1889.
