Pringle, farmer in the Hunt Community since 1911 was a native of Missouri. He came to Young County from Jack County in 1911. His wife preceded him in death in 1947. Funeral was held at the First Baptist church in Olney, with the pastor, Rev. Erwin Reed officiating, assisted by A.P. Willard of Olney, long-time friend of J.E. Pringle. Burial was in the Olney New cemetery. Survivors: two sons - Henry and Dudley; two daughters - Mrs. Tina Clarida, Mrs. Harris. 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. J.E. Pringle and family moved from Jack County to Young County in 1911. They went on a covered wagon to Olney and rented a house from the Goodloe family. The family only lived in Olney for three months when J.E. Pringle decided to move to Oklahoma. They started in a covered wagon in December and got to the Ikard Ranch in Archer County when night came. They were out on the ranch and cattle surrounded them. The next morning there was several inches of snow on the ground and they wished they could return to Olney. The Ikard cowboys found them when they came to feed the cattle and invited the family to stay at the ranch house till the storm was over. After several days, the family returned to Olney. J.E. Pringle bought a farm six miles southeast of Olney from Mr. Flowers. The family attended church held in the Hunt school. In 1914, J.E. Pringle decided to move to Arkansas. They family shipped most of their furniture and went by train to Leslie, Arkansas. J.E. Pringle bought two places that had large peach and apple orchards on them. They lived in a log house with a basement. The family didn't stay long before moving back to Olney. J.E. Pringle bought a farm southeast of the Hunt school house. They farmed there for several years. Their neighbors were the Howards, McCaghrens, Patricks and Henderson. J.E. Pringle was one of the first men who paid to get the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church built. In 1916, the family moved to the McIntire farm which they lived the rest of their lives.
