Vesta was born on February 6, 1896 in Lovington, IL. She married Emmanual Catteau on July 19, 1916. Vesta was a homemaker and election judge throughout her life. She enjoyed cooking and crocheting. She made delicious fried chicken and french fries. She was well known for her pies, coconut cream, pineapple cream, lemon and her meringue topping was delicious! The secret has to do with how you add the sugar! She crocheted beautiful afghan's in many bright colors. She helped Emmanuel plant, weed and harvest their acre garden each year. They had one son, Eugene. Vesta had 4 sisters, Clara Davis, May 7, 1880, Lydia Florence Davis, Sept. 23, 1881, Nancy Ethel Davis, Feb. 7, 1883, Stella Edith Davis, June 29, 1885, and 3 brothers, John Riley Davis, March 31, 1887, Leonidas Harlon Davis, Aug. 19, 1893, Oral Edwin Davis, July 15, 1889. She passed away in Peoria, IL in May, 1988.
