Published in the Athens Review July 10, 1941 John Crouch, 57, former employee of the Texas Highway Department here died suddenly at his residence at the Frank Burr farm, three miles south of Athens on the Palestine highway at 12 o'clock (noon) Tuesday. Although he had been in ill health for several months and had been forced to give up his work with the Highway Department here, his death came un-expectedly. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock at Blooming Grove, Texas. The body was at the Athens funeral Home here and was removed Wednesday morning to Blooming Grove. Deceased was born on June 13, 1884 in Warren county, Tennessee, but was brought to Texas as a child and had spent most of his life in this state. He came to Athens from Frost, Texas, twenty-two years ago. He had been a lifelong member of the Baptist church. Survivors include two children, Gordon Crouch and Miss Glennadine Crouch, both of Dallas; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Littlejohn, Frost and Mrs. J.U. Nelson, Hillsboro, and three brothers, Jay Crouch, Frost; E.L.
