The Carnegie Herald, Wed., Aug. 15, 1934 Grandma Nickel, 81 years Old, Dies Here Wednesday -Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Nickel who died Wednesday night were held at the Baptist church Friday at 2:30 o'clock by Rev. Roy Rust of Blanchard, and interment was made in the Carnegie cemetery. -Sarah Judith Spragins was born in Pickinville, Ala. Feb. 7, 1853, died at her home in Carnegie Aug. 8, 1934, aged 81 years, 6 months and 8 days. -She was united in marriage to J. H. Hudgins Jan. 5, 1873. To this union were born two daughters, Mrs. C. R. Wright and Mrs. H. R. Walker, both of this place. Mr. Hudgins died in January, 1901. -She was united in marriage to Dr. T. W. Nickel at Wenachee, Wash. in January, 1929. Dr. Nickel died in September of the same year. -Mrs. Nickel was converted at the age of 15 years and joined the baptist church of which she was a member at the time of her death. -Besides the two daughters, Mrs. Nickel is survived by her sister, Mrs. Jennie Meek of this place, eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Mrs. Meek and Mrs. Nickel have made their home together here since 1929. The above obituary was added to this memorial by Lillian, the original creator. In Missouri, the Spragins family lived first in Ozark Twp., Lawrence County; later in or near the Ash Grove area of Boone Twp., Greene County. Since her obituary and tombstone have 1853, it's probably best to leave it at that, but it's very likely she was actually born in 1854. She was married on Jan. 5, 1873 near Lawrenceburg, Lawrence Co., Missouri to James Harvey Hudgings. They had two daughters; Martha "Mattie" Ethel (mar. Charles Rufus Wright), and Marcia "Marcy" Alma (mar.1st Robert B. Smith, mar.2nd Hutson R. Walker). Williams. She was widowed again on Aug. 29, 1908. W. B. Williams died Aug.29, 1908 and was buried in Texas. (Gish Funeral Home Records 1905-1928) Judith Williams of Gracemont, Oklahoma was remarried again on Dec. 23, 1909 in Miller, Lincoln Twp., Lawrence Co., Missouri to Elder James H. Glasscock, M.G. He had also lost two prior spouses. Judith Glasscock, age 66, of Everton, Mo. was married fourth on Sep. 1, 1920 in Madison Co., Arkansas to Mathew M. Grubb, age 72, of Alabam, Madison Co., Arkansas. She applied for a Widow's Pension for his Confederate Civil War service in 1927. Judith's 5th and last marriage was in Jan. 1929 in Wanatchee, Chelan Co., Washington to Dr. Thomas Winfield Nickel, the widower of her older sister Marcia Alabama (Spragins) Nickel. In 1930, Judith and her younger sister Jennie (Spragins) Meek, are living with Judith's son-in-law and daughter; Hutson R. and Marcia (Hudgings) Walker. 10Apr1930 Carnegie Town, S. Holcombe, Editing Historian. Chapter 20, Boone township. J. H. HUDGINGS was born in Monroe county, Tennessee, February 26, 1851. His parents were William and Mary Hudgings, and they came to Greene in 1864, where the subject of this sketch grew up and was educated. Early in life he began farming, and that has been his vocation since. In 1874 he came in possession of the place where he now resides, three and a half miles southeast of Ash Grove. The farm contains eighty acres of fine land under good cultivation, and well improved. He was married January 5, 1873, to Miss Judith Spraggins, who was born February 7, 1854. Her parents were William and Sophronia Spraggins, who were natives of Alabama. Mr. and Mrs. Hudgings were blessed with two children, Ethel, and Marcia A. Hudgins, and later of William Williams. Mrs. Glasscock is the daughter of William W. Spragins and Sephronia (Ellis) Spragins, his wife. The Spragins were a prominent family in Mississippi, from which state they moved into southwest Missouri after the Civil war. By her first marriage Mrs. Glasscock was the mother of two daughters: Martha E. Hudgins, who married Rufus Wright, and has a family of six children; and Marcia A. Hudgins, who married Robert B.
