CHARLEY R. LAYMAN - Charley R. Layman, 73, Whitewright retired farmer, died Sunday 9 a.m. at a Sherman hospital after an illness of two weeks.Funeral services will b e held Tuesday 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, where Mr. Layman was a member and deacon. Three Baptist ministers will conduct the rites, the Rev. Bill Johnson, pastor of the church, the Rev. Fred Waldrop of Gainesville, and the Rev. W.J. Epting of Sherman. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery under direction of Earnheart Funeral Home. A native of Tennessee, Mr. Layman was a son of the late Albert and Cordelia Layman. He married Miss Mabel Blanton Sept. 3, 1910. Surviving are his wife; six sons, J.B. and J.H. Layman of Bells, the Rev.C.G. Layman of Caddo Mills; T.A. and R.W. Layman of Sherman, and R.L. Layman of Savoy; two daughters, Mrs. E.L. Climer of Dallas and Mrs. C..L. Cole of Brashear; four brothers, Dr. Frank Layman of Sherman, J.P. Layman of Waxahachie, Asa Layman of Frisco and Carl Layman of Gunter; three sisters, Mrs. Matty Hodges and Mrs. Nelle Carter of Dallas and Mrs. Flora Stone of Celina; 24 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. (researcher's note: Mable Blanton Layman was the daughter of Thomas Jefferson Blanton and Eliza Jane Smith. She was the granddaughter of Josiah Blanton and Lucy Westbrook, both of whom are buried in Porter's Chapel Cemetery, Fannin Co., TX.)
