Bio

Joyce "Nadine" Rivers Finley, age 82, of N. Little Rock, AR passed peacefully from this life to eternal life on January 17, 2010 at Arkansas Hospice in Little Rock. She was the widow of EC Finley and retired office manager for Dr. Fay O. Wardlaw, DDS, MS. Nadine was born February 4, 1927 in Kingsland, AR and graduated from high school there. She was the eldest of eight children of Horace Lee Rivers and Evelyn Hope Rivers. She grew up in a large, rural family that honored God, loving relationships, hard work, and integrity. Nadine was a devoted wife, mother, Me-ma, sister, and friend. She enjoyed almost 40 years of companionship with her husband before his death in 2008. Her love for God and others, hospitality, and style endeared her to many through the years. The family wishes to thank Rev. Rod Loy and our church family for their prayerful support, her extended family members and special friends for their many acts of kindnesses, and AR Hospice for their professional and compassionate care. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers: Horace Rivers, Jr. and Perry Hope Rivers. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Bill Lesher and step-daughter Robin Finley all of No. Little Rock; step-son, Keith Finley (Mimi) of Metairie, LA; grandsons: Steven Jackson (Miriam) of Austin, AR; Christian Lesher (Samantha) of Sherwood, AR; and Mathew Finley and David Walgomothe of Metairie, LA; five great-grandsons: Evan and Seth Jackson, Jackson Lesher, Brandon and Lance Walgomothe; two sisters: Mary Ellen Bryant and Glenetta R. Burks (Elbert) of Warren, AR and three brothers: Garry Rivers of Stamps, AR, Ronald Rivers (Shelbie) of Benton, AR, and Mark Rivers (Glenda) of Kingsland, AR as well as a host of other family and friends. The celebration of Nadine's life was 10 am, Thursday, Jan. 21 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home in North Little Rock officiated by Rev. Rod Loy of First Assembly of God. Eulogies by Mark Rivers, Steven Jackson, and Christian Lesher. Music provided by Shelby Reep, Jonalyn Reep, and Felecia Doster. Burial was in Crossroads Cemetery by Frazer Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Joe Burks III, Rocky Burks, Memory Frazer, Jeff Rivers, Perry Mark Rivers, Raye Lynn Wiley, and Salina Rivers.
