Columbus Ledger-Enquirer (GA) - January 4, 2009 Mildred High April 17, 1924 - January 1, 2009 COLUMBUS, GA— Mildred High, 84, of Columbus, died Thursday, January 1, 2009 at the Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 5, 2009 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Rev. Rafael Estrada, Msgr. Laurence Lucree, Rev. Brian LaBurt, Rev. Robert Girardeau, Rev. Mark Van Alstine, Rev. Fredy Angel, and Rev. George Gonzalez officiating. Interment will be held in Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery. A Vigil Service and Rosary will be said 6:00 P.M. Sunday at McMullen Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8:00 P.M. Mrs. High was born April 17, 1924 in Seymour, Texas, daughter of the late Anton Joseph Mocek and Mary Jurik Mocek. She was a homemaker and a Charter member of Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church and School. She was a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Council of Catholic Women, President of the Alter Society, and a member of the Chattahoochee Valley Chapter Military Officers Association of America, Primetimers of Columbus Deanery. Mrs. High enjoyed visiting homebound families, and working with the Girl Scouts and teaching Crafts at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Everett High and son-in-law, Clifford Duke. Survivors include two daughters, Irma Duke of Phenix City, AL and Linda Champion (Richard) of St. Petersburg, FL; one sister, Gracie Conner of Temple, TX; and three grandchildren, Mercer Duke, Everett Duke, both of Phenix City, AL and Chris Champion of St. Petersburg, FL. In Lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donation to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 1953 Torch Hill Rd., Columbus, GA 31903
