Bio

Charles Otto Braun, 82, of Georgetown, passed away on January 24, 2010, in Georgetown. Charles was born on September 19, 1927, in Walburg to Otto C.G. and Emma Louise Schier Braun. His wife of 60 years, Emogene Johnson Braun precedec him in death in 2009. He is survived by his daugther, Pam (Hugh) Cox, of Cedar Park; son Wayne (Donna) Braun, of Georgetown; daughter Peggy Braun (Joey Briggs), of Jarrell; son Patrick (Tammy) Braun of Brenham; and daughter Karia Braun, of Georgetown. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Charles was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp serving from 1946 to 1948. He retired from the Texas Highway Department, the Texas Water Commission and the City of Round Rock Public Works. He was also a Transportation Specialist for the Central Texas Treatment Center for Williamson County. Charles was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Walburg serving on the Brotherhood Church Council. He was also a member of the American Legion serving as First Vice Commander and was retired from the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department serving from 1961 to 1966. Charles loved to play Dominos, play softball and coach women's softball, participate in chili cook offs and he loved a good barbecue. He was well known throughout Georgetown and Williamson County for his outgoing personality and his outgoing personality and his willingness to serve. Funeral services were Thursday, January 28 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Walburg, with burial following at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in Walburg. The Georgetown Fire Department served as pallbearers and provided honors. Honorary Pallbearers were Alan Kirkpatrick, Shawn Kirkpatrick, Jennifer Gaswint, Jamie Orf, Jamie Haselhorst, Dani Braun, Amanda Braun, Jordan Braun, Walker Briggs and Peyton Briggs. Memorials in his name may be made to the American Legion-Jarrell or to St. Peter Lutheran Church-Walburg. Arrangements by Ramsey Funeral Home & Crematorium in Georgetown.
