Published in the Ord Quiz, Ord, Nebraska, Thursday, January 22, 1948, Page 12, Column 4 Obituary – John Nedbalek John A. Nedbalek, son of John and Marie Nedbalek, was born July 28,1878 in Lipa, Czechoslovakia and passed away from this life at his home in Burwell, January 13, 1948 at the age of 69 years, 5 months and 15 days. At the age of five years he came to America with his parents and settled on a homestead in the northeastern part of Custer county where he grew to manhood. On the 14th day of September 1901 he was united in marriage to Tracy Sebesta. For four years they lived on a farm near Burwell and in 1905 they moved to their homestead 10 miles north of Taylor, where they lived until 1917. Then they moved to a farm east of Burwell where they lived for 28 years. In December, 1945 they moved to Burwell where he lived until his death. To this union eight children were born, three passed away in infancy. He leaves to mourn his wife Tracy, four sons and one daughter, Daniel of Comstock, Thomas of Jerome, Ida., Emil of Springfield, Ore., Eddie of Burwell and Lillian of Denver, Colo. Two brothers and two sisters, Thomas of Parma, Ida., Frank of McCord Saks, Canada, Mrs. Frances Barter of Comstock and Mrs. Anna Capek of Lyman, Nebr. One brother Joe, preceded him in death in 1933. He also leaves two grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the First Congregational Church at Burwell with Burial in the Burwell cemetery.
