DeVerl Pearl Jensen, age 93, of Provo, Utah, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2009 at the home of her daughter's in Highland, Utah. She was born in Provo on January 30, 1916 to Yves Marion Offret & Bertha Eliza Bates. She married Thomas E. Jensen on October 27, 1934 in Heber City, Utah and they were later sealed together in the Provo Temple on September 1, 1999. They were the parents of four sons and two daughters, Verleen Kafton (deceased), Thomas D. (Maureen), Jerry P. (Pat), Robert M. (Marilyn), Richard Lee (deceased), Christine (Mac) McTavish. Tom and DeVerl lived at 283 West 600 South in Provo most of their lives down by the Provo Train Depot, where they enjoyed their home and had a beautiful yard with many kinds of flowers that Mom loved to work with. She loved to work in her yard. It was the envy of all those that were blessed to see it. Mom and Dad loved going on trips in their truck and camper and enjoyed being together on these trips with their friends and family. They also loved spending time with both sides of the family cooking meals and enjoying one another. Her family was the most important part of DeVerl's life. She always showed love and compassion to everyone and would always join in and be active in whatever was going on. She absolutely loved everyone and everything. She loved life to the fullest. DeVerl's husband, Tom, passed away in May 1986, so she was alone for twenty-three years. She continued to do her best and spend time with her children and she enjoyed many trips with them. It did not matter where she was, she was the shining light of the occasion. Everyone enjoyed spending time with Mom. One of Mom's shining qualities was her love and compassion for others. She spent her life in the service of others. DeVerl and Tom were together fifty-two years and dearly loved one another. They leave behind a legacy of six children, fourteen grandchildren, thirty-nine great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren. DeVerl came from a large family. She had a twin brother, DeVar along with two other brothers, Marion and Henry she also had four sisters, Sylvia (Patton) Utley, Vera Hall, Bertha McKean, and Isabella Phillips Lewis. Isabella is her only surviving sister. Mom was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She had a strong testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel and made many loving friends there. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Garden Sixth Ward Chapel, 950 North 500 West, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Family and friends may call on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be held in the East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery, 4525 North 800 East, Provo, Utah.
