Helen Money Bird, 88, returned home for Christmas on December 25, 2009 at Hearthstone Manor Assisted Living Center in Spanish Fork, Utah. Helen's passing was a Christmas blessing as she was reunited with her late husband, George, and her son, Larry. Before moving to Hearthstone Manor, she resided at 1272 South 400 East in Springville, Utah. She was born September 12, 1921 in Palmyra, Utah, the daughter of John Banks and Adalinda Rose Money. She was married to George Ray Bird on September 4, 1940 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Helen recalled on her wedding day, a note from her seminary teacher. Within those lines read, "Helen Money - May your life be as rich as your name, and may you have some little pennies from heaven." Helen and George started out with four precious pennies: Larry, Leland, Calvin, and Alan. Today, her life's bank holds seventy-six precious pennies. Helen received a scholarship to the Excelsis Beauty School in Salt Lake City and then later worked in Spanish Fork at the Nu Art Beauty Shop upstairs from the Childs Bakery. She also worked in the summer months for Del Monte Cannery. Helen served diligently in the community and religious affairs serving as a Pink Lady at Payson Hospital, Cultural Arts Club, American Legion, and Relief Society President as well as many other callings in the LDS church. Since her husband George passed away 35 years ago, she has spent much time in her yard and garden and enjoyed time with her children and grandchildren. Helen is survived by her sons Leland (Beverly), Calvin (Linda), and Alan (Sharee) of Springville; a sister and brother, Lois Albertson of Payson and Richard Money (Colleen) of Springville. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the LDS meeting house, 840 South 400 East, Springville, UT. Friends may call on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, UT, and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Church. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery. Published in the Daily Herald on December 27, 2009.
