Bio
Son of Violettie Adeline(Wood) and Harry Garrett. He married Louise Lauantyne Burns abt 1953. They had a daughter, Sarah. He married Erma (Shows) Elder 1968. Tom Garrett Yoakum—Tom Garrett, 78, of Yoakum, died Monday, April 7, 1997. He was born Nov. 13, 1920, in DeWitt County, to the late Harry and Violettie Woods Garrett. He was a rancher and was a member of American Brahma Breeders Association and American Cattle Association. He was a Baptist. Survivors: wife, Erma S. Shows Garrett; daughter; four stepsons; sisters, Clara Mae Kennemer of Corpus Christi, Bernice Brugmann and Lucille Hauschild, both of Victoria, and Eluina Pippert of Tennessee; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: sisters, Julie Smith and Rosie Slone Payne; and brothers, William Garrett, Joe Garrett and Almack Garrett. Family visitations will be held from 6 to 8 p. m. today at Buffington Funeral Home chapel. Services will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday, at the funeral home, the Rev. Buddy Means officiating.
