Joe A. Belunek of Frydek passed away suddenly of a heart condition at his late home at 6:20 p.m. Sunday, October 10, at the age of 55 years. He was a merchant at Frydek for many years and was involved in ranching. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Frydek at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 12, with interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Father Bernard Snock officiated. KJZT Rosary was recited at the Pete E. Etlinger Funeral Home at 7 p.m. Monday, October 11, and parish rosary at 7:30 p.m. Pallbearers were Jerry Zapalac, Charles Jalowy, Martin Hokanson, James Vitek, Alvin Vitek and Leonard Tydlacka. Mr. Belunek was born in Frydek January 20, 1921 and was reared in that community. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Mike Belunek. He attended Frydek parochial and public schools and graduated from Sealy High School, then attended business college in Houston. He was in the grocery store business for many years and was a World War II veteran. On May 19, 1958, he was united in marriage with Mrs. Annie Vitek Prihoda in Frydek. Mr. Belunek was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and of the KJT Society of the church. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Annie Belunek of Frydek; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Louise (Bernice) Novosad and Mrs. Jack (Sharon) Machala, both of Sealy; daughter, Miss Janice Ann Belunek of Frydek; stepson, Daniel Prihoda of Wallis; sister, Mrs. Charles Zapalac of Frydek; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mrs. Carl (Lillie) Hokanson, and first wife, Mrs. Evelyn Gajewski Belunek. Pete E. Etlinger funeral Home of Sealy directed the service. The United States flag was folded by L.L. Bender and H.L. Hillebrand of the Sealy American Legion Post and presented to Mrs. Belunek. Sealy News, Thursday, October 14, 1976
