Phyllis J. (Vybiral) Nozicka, passed away, January 21, 2010, at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo, Nebraska after a battle with progressive supranuclear palsy. She was born, January 5, 1936 in Colon, Nebraska to Frank and Bessie (Cihacek) Vybiral. Phyllis grew up in Colon, Nebraska and attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School of Wahoo, Nebraska through tenth grade. She later graduated from Wahoo (Nebraska) High School in 1953. She began working at the Wahoo City Hall offices and eventually became the City Clerk which continued for over twenty years. Phyllis was united in marriage to Delmar Nozicka on April 27, 1957 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo, Nebraska. They made their home in Wahoo, Nebraska. Phyllis was community minded and served as mayor of Wahoo, Nebraska 1998-2002; was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post #82 serving as Sergeant at Arms, Legislative Committee Chairman and Girls State Chairman; served as treasurer for Christmas on the Prairie; parishioner St. Wenceslaus Church, PCCW past president, St. Ludmilla Guild and Church Choir; member of Wahoo Coin Club, Class of '53 reunion organizer, Saunders County Hospital Auxiliary, Beer Can Collectors of America #24 of which she belonged to the Small Suds Sisters Chapter of BCCA, AARP and was a lifetime member of Girl Scouts of USA. Phyllis was preceded in death by: husband, Delmar Nozicka; brother, Frank Vybiral; and her parents. She is survived by: daughters and sons in law, Paula and David Brabec, Wahoo, Nebraska; Lisa and Robert Martenson, Kearney, Nebraska; grandchildren, Sarah, Scott and Emily Brabec, Courtney and Abbie Martenson; sister, Carol LeClaire, Spirit Lake, Iowa; sister in law Marty Siegel, Bloomington, Illinois and a host of friends and relatives.
