Syracuse -- Graveside service for Anna Barbara Smith, 80, of Syracuse, will be 2 p.m. MST Friday in Sunset Memorial Cemetery near Sterling, Colo. Mrs. Smith, a homemaker, died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at Hamilton County Extended Care Facility in Syracuse. She was born Dec. 6, 1921, at Julesburg, Colo., the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Mossmann) Schiefelbein, one of 17 children. She attended school in Sterling, Colo., where she lived for most of her life before moving to Syracuse in January 2001 to be closer to family. Mrs. Smith served in the U.S. Army at Fort Campbell, Ky. She was a former member of the VFW, and enjoyed gardening, canning and collecting various items. In 1955, she married Howard Smith at Keota, Colo. He died in 1976. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and 14 brothers and sisters. She is survived by a son, William McKinney, Syracuse; a daughter, Regina McInerney of Nevada; two sisters, Katherin Bosio, Soledad, Calif., and Regina Schiefelbein of Arizona; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Hamilton County Extended Care Facility, in care of Greene-Fellers Funeral Home, Box 1253, Syracuse, KS 67878.
