Ernest and Benny Cloud 08/02/1949 , Garibaldi, oregon It is said that both Ernest and Benny Cloud (brothers) drowned in the Mill Pond, Garibaldi, Oregon. Joe and Travis would honk the car horn when they wanted the boys to come home, 8/2/1949 Joe honked the horn but the boys did not come home. They found Ernest's boots on the bank of the mill pond. The boys had been warned not to play on the mill pond but it appears that Benny may have fallen into the pond and Ernest took his boots off before he went in the water to save him. Joe helped pull the boys out of the pond. Joe did not want to go to the funeral, but people talked him into it and he was glad that he did. It was said to be a sad day for the family.
