M.C. Scrudder, Minister-Farmer, Passes Away Sunday Rev. M.C. Scrudder well known Presbyterian minister and farmer in this community the past 20 years, died at his home northwest of town Sunday. He had been in failing health a number of years and was seriously ill the past seven months. Coming to Oklahoma in 1921 he was pastor of the church at Sulphur, Tecumseh and Rocky before coming to the Mount Vernon church northwest of Carnegie in 1923, where he was pastor almost continuously for 12 years. Since that time he has been pastor at Boggy church and organized the church at Alden. It was during his pastorate in 1925 that the Mt. Vernon church was built at its present location. Funeral services were held at Mt. Vernon at 2:30 Wednesday and burial was made in the Carnegie cemetery under direction of the Pitcher funeral home. Elders of the churches at Rocky, Boggy and Mt. Vernon were bearers. Rev. Elmer Kelley of Burns Flat conducted the service assisted by the pastor, Rev. George Bishop. Marion Clinton Scrudder was born near Prairieview, Ark. on April 26, 1889. He was married to Marie Caroline Trusty in October, 1912 and to them six children were born, two of whom preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife and children, Marion Normagene and Norland David at home; Norris R., Carnegie and Mrs. Novadell Barton of McAlester, and five grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Osie Harris, Subiaco, Ark. and three brothers, Rev. H.H. Scrudder, Booneville, Ark., R.L. of Pittsburg, Texas and H.A. of Maizy were here for the funeral. Three brothers, J.R. of Paris, Ark., D.S. of Subiaco and B.S. who lives in California, could not be present. Mrs. Ollie Sewell and Mrs. Raymond Plumblee of Cordell were among the many friends from other communities who attended the funeral. Contributed by Lillian (#47192135)
