Bio
With her children at her side, Ruth Hays Riley age 97, passed quietly from this life to the next. Ruth was the last surviving child of Leona Maddox Hudson and Lyle Davis Hudson. Born in Ellis County, Ruth lived the majority of her life in Waxahachie, Mrs. Riley was preceeded in death by her parents and fourteen brothers and sisters; her husbands, James Maurice Hays and Joe N. Riley; her sons, James A. Hays and Gordon (Charlie) Hays, daughter Dianne Hays Wood and long-time friend and companion, Ted Spain. Surviving are her son, Bob Hays and wife, Martha of Waxahachie; daughters; Jeanice Weatherford and husband Bill of Midlothian; Donna Kinsel and husband John of Fort Worth; Susan Chappell and fiancé Richard Patton of Oak Point; daughters-in-law, Quiva Hays and Willie Mae Hays and son in law Tommy Wood. "Granny Riley" is also survived by eighteen grand children, thirty six great grand children and eight great great grandchildren. Burial followed at the Hillcrest Burial Park in Waxahachie.
