Bio

Nelva McGee, 88, died at 9:00 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2010, in her daughter's Home. Nelva was a native of Starks and had lived in Vinton since 1968. She made beautiful handmade quilts. Nelva loved doing crossword puzzels. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and hunting. Survivors include her daughter Carolyn Sue Doyle Freeman and her husband Louis of Vinton; 12 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Leland W. McGee; daughter Margie Nell Berry; and son Cecil "Bud" Doyle. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, January 11, in Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Rev. Lee Perkins will officiate. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Sunday and from 8-10 a.m. Monday in the funeral home
