Bio
Daughter of Stanley & Martha (Shuda) Stenka. She was united in marriage to Leonard R. McCarty, Sr. on Feb. 9, 1948, at Central City. He preceded her in death in 2001. Survivors of the immediate family include a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and John Pedrosa of Grand Island; five sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Luz McCarty of Arlington, Texas, Leonard Jr. and Eunice McCarty, Dennis and Wendy McCarty, all of Grand Island, David and June McCarty of Arlington, Neb., and Francis "Butch" and Sandra Stenka of Ogallala; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise and Chester Harden of Alda and Virginia and Joe Fretto of Phoenix; 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was welcomed into heaven by her husband; parents; grandson and great-grandson; sister, Agnes Grudzinski and foster-brother, Ben Kosmicki. Catherine was raised and received her education in Loup City. Catherine and Leonard made Grand Island their home. She retired from Delicious Foods in 1980. She was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, the parish choir, was a Eucharistic Minister and Perpetual Adoration. She was also a member of both the auxiliary's of the VFW and the Eagles. She loved her rose and flower garden. Catherine is at home with her husband of more than 50 years and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to either the church or the American Heart Association.
