Funeral Services Held For W.L. Kellison, 65 MEMPHIS, Texas, March 4. - Funeral services for W.L. Kellison, 76, who died here early Friday, following a lengthy illness, were held Saturday at the Baptist church at Newlin, conducted by Rev. L.W. Crawford, pastor. Kellison was foreman of precinct 1 here for a number of years. He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Bertha, Betty Sue and Mrs. Moody McCullough of Memphis; and a son, Taylor Kellison of Memphis. (Published in Wichita Falls Times, Wichita Falls, Texas · Monday, March 04, 1940, Page 5) ----- W.L.Kellison Dies in Memphis Home After Long Illness Funeral Services Held at Newlin Baptist Church Saturday; Interment There Walter Lee Kellison, 65, died at home early last Friday Morning after an illness of several years. Funeral services were held from the First Baptist Church at Newlin Saturday afternoon with the Rev. L.J. Crawford, officiating, assisted by Rev. Martin, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Memphis. The Masonic Lodge of Memphis conducted the services during the rites at the Newlin cemetery. Spicer's Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his wife, five daughters, Mrs. Moody McCollough of Plainview, Mrs. Marvin Davis of Panhandle, Mrs. L.E. Vardy of Newlin, and Bertha Ann and Betty Sue Kellison of Memphis, a son, Taylor Kellison of Memphis; his mother, Mrs. R.L. Kellison of Hollis, Okla.; three brothers, Jim of Vinson, Okla., John and Homer of Hollis; a sister, Mrs. I.D. Kerley of Meridian. Mr. Kellison was born in Bosque County, February 4, 1875, and was 65 years and 27 days old at the time of his death. He was reared in the same county; and in 1902 was married to Miss Bertha Northington. Mr. and Mrs. Kellison then moved to Oklahoma, settling where the city of Hollis is now located. From Hollis the Kellison family moved to Newlin in 196, where they had lived since. Mr. Kellison was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newlin and was also a member of the local Masonic Lodge.
