To quote from a letter to the Maintainer (Kimberly) from her grandmother Lillian (Effie's daughter), dated 16 Sept 1992: "Joseph Peyton your Great Granddaddy was born Oct. 7 1883 in Meridian, Miss. Married Effie Jane Staggs in Quinlan, Tx Sept. 2, 1908 in a buggy. She was born Nov. 10 1882 in Woodruff County, Ark." Biography by: Great-granddaughter Kimberly L. Green Also from that same letter "Great Grandmama's mother died when she was small, and her Daddy gave she & her 3 brothers to kinfolk to raise, so she didn't know anything about them. She was raised by a cousin & his wife, they didn't have any children." (Effie Jane was referred to throughout our family as 'Great Grandmama', even by her daughter. It was the easiest way to be clear who we were speaking about.)
