Jelinek, resident of Loma vicinity for thirty years passed away at his home four and one-half miles southeast of Brainard on Monday morning, Aug. 29, at 10:45 o'clock. He was 66 years 9 months and 10 days of age. His death was a shock to his family he being ill only a few hours preceding his death. John Vaclav Jelinek was born in Okrohlick, Czechoslovakia, on November 16, 1862. Growing to manhood in that country, he was united in marriage to Miss Katerina Machacek in July 1887. He worked as farm manager for four years then, leaving his wife and two children behind, he came to America. He worked at Omaha in the packing houses and smelters for six years then came to Butler county and worked for a year on a farm near Dwight. At this time he sent for to Europe for his family and they settled on a farm near Loma where they have made their home ever since. Mr. Jelinek is survived by four sons, Charles, Joseph, Frank and Anton and three daughters, Mrs. J. W. Frahm, Mrs. R. F. Slavik and Miss Helen all of this community; also by thirteen grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at St. Lukes Catholic church in Loma conducted by Rev. Father Bauer. The four sons and two sons-in-law were pall-bearers. Burial was in the Loma cemetery by the side of his wife who preceded him in death on May 26, 1928. ___ We sincerely thank our many friends and relatives who so kindly assisted us during our time of sorrow.
