Bio

"Death at Weston. On Saturday, March 7th, occurred the death of Anton Navratil, a prominent farmer, residing a short distance northeast of Loma. Funeral occurred at 10 a. m. the following Monday at St. Luke's Church, Loma, Rev. Father Klein of Brainard, officiating. Interment was in the cemetery near town. Mr. Navratil was born in the province of Czech, Bohemia, where he grew to manhood and married. Desiring to better his condition, he bade farewell to the home of his birth and sought his fortune in Nebraska. He resided on a farm near Bruno, but a number of years ago purchased his present home, where he has since resided happy, as a tiller of the soil, and cultivator of friendships, for be it said he was not lacking in the latter. With his good wife and the splendid family of children, twelve out of the fifteen who were born, now living, they have met the problems of life in a sincere and practical way. Mr. Navratil was honest, unassuming, and a God-fearing man. He was not possessed of as great an amount of this worlds goods as one more of a grasping nature may have had. He realized that gold was not the only thing that glittered and that truth could put its light to shame. Death came to this aged man, as a final relief from an incurable case of cancer of nearly a years standing, from the effects of which he suffered greatly. The bereaved ones have the abiding and sincere sympathy of their friends." - Valparaiso Visitor, Page 4; March 19, 1914
