Barbara Geneva Cooper, 91, of Waco, peacefully slipped from her earthly life to an eternal resting place Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at Ridgecrest Retirement and Health Care Center. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at Wade Funeral Home Chapel in Hubbard, with her cousin, the Reverend Milton Woodall, officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Hubbard. Barbara Geneva was born in Hubbard, Texas, the only daughter of the late Albert James and Mattie Susan (Shull) Cooper. She was raised in Navarro County and graduated from Purdon High School, where she excelled in basketball. After graduation from high school, she attended Tyler Commercial College, successfully completing the required curriculum in business. A career employee of Magnolia Petroleum Company in Dallas as a keypunch operator, she retired after 30 years of dedicated service. She had the distinction of working in the building with the Flying Red Horse atop the roof. Bowling was her passion and she spent most of those thirty years as a member of the company team. Magnolia Petroleum Company is now known as Exxon-Mobil. After retiring, "Aunt Geneva" moved to Mexia, where her time was spent entertaining those beloved great-nieces and nephews with her wonderful sense of humor, and allowing them to do and have whatever they asked for. Her favorite dessert to bake was a Milky Way cake. The late 1970's found her moving to Regis Retirement Center, where she lived until 1993. Stillwell Retirement Residence became her home until 2009, when she needed additional care. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Troy; and beloved sisters-in-law, Bertie Loveless Cooper and Cecelia Haverkamp Cooper. She will be missed by her brothers, A.J. Cooper Sr. and wife, Reba, of Waco, and Lester Cooper and wife, Jacqueline, of Midland; sister-in-law, Donna Cooper, of Garland; beloved nephews, A.J.
