Bio

Coreen Myra Chesley Miller JOLIET — Coreen Myra Chesley Miller, of Joliet, is now with our Lord and Savior. Mom, grandma and friend passed on unexpectedly at home New Years Eve, Dec. 31, 2009. She was 76. Coreen was born April 11, 1933, in Elim Valley, near Callaway, Neb. She was the daughter of Orville and Edna Chesley. The family, including her younger brother Duane, moved from Elim Valley to a farm west of Arnold in 1939. She walked a far distance to school each day. She didn't say she walked uphill in the snow both ways, but according to her there were more than enough rattlesnakes along the way. She had two very special teachers, her Aunt Doris and Aunt Donna Chesley. In the summer of 1945, they moved to Gunnison, Colo., where they owned and managed a motel. Coreen graduated from Gunnison High School in 1951. After graduating from High School she attended Northern Colorado University in Greeley, Colo. In 1953, she married Ronald W. Miller in Greeley, Colo., resulting in two sons Randall (Randy) and Kendall (Ken). They farmed at Berthoud, Colo., and then east of Ft. Collins, Colo., which included a dairy with about 120 cows. After a visit with friends in Montana, they were determined to move to Montana. In 1974, the family was able to purchase a farm east of Joliet, where they continued the dairy and crop farming; they also added a few stock cows. They sold the dairy cows in the late 1980's before Ron passed away in 1994. Coreen continued to live on the farm until she passed on. Coreen loved her family, visiting relatives, volunteering at church and other community activities. She also enjoyed helping out at the Laurel Furniture Outlet. Coreen was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Coreen is survived by her brother Duane Chesley, residing in Colorado. Her son Randy and his wife Cyndi reside in Washington State with their three sons, Bill, Brandon, Wesley and numerous great grandchildren. Her son Ken and his wife Peggy reside in Laurel with their children Max and Kyndall. Services in celebration of her life will be held at the Wesleyan Church, 402 West Carbon and 2nd Street in Joliet at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7. Lunch reception will follow for family and friends at the church. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Laurel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorial gifts be made to the Joliet Wesleyan Church PO Box 146 Joliet, MT 59041.
