JAMES Henry PATE, JR. Mr. James H. Pate, Jr., 89, of Center, Texas, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2006 at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Smith officiating, burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery. Visitation will begin Friday at noon and continue until 9:00 p.m. at Mangum Funeral Home. He was born on August 5, 1917 in Sealy, Texas to parents, James H. Pate, Sr. & Vallie Bell Webb Pate. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, James H. Pate, Sr. & Vallie Bell Webb Pate; wife of 51 years and mother of his children, Mildred Berwick Pate; and wife of 18 years, Zelma Palmer Lacy Pate; 2 sons, L. Bruce Pate & William E. Pate, and brother, Preston H. Pate. His surviving relatives include daughter, Sheron Outlaw & husband, Daniel of Spring Branch, Texas; 3 step daughters, Nancy Warr & husband Bobby of Center, Linda Reinhart & husband David of Columbus, Ohio, Janis Compton & husband Jepp of Lufkin; 1 step son, Dr. Joe Neal Lacy & wife Jane Ann of Chapel Hills, North Carolina; 7 grandchildren, Lee Pate Fischer & husband Bill of San Antonio, Joseph Outlaw of Spring Branch, Molly Outlaw of Austin; 9 step grandchildren, Tracy & Reese Doggett of Houston, Wesley Allen Warr & wife, Lisa of Santa Fe, Angie & Scott Shoemaker of Columbus, Ohio, Alan St. Clair of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Brad & Melanie Hughes of Joaquin, Brent Hughes of Houston, Wilkie, Grey & Anna of Chapel Hills, North Carolina; 10 step great grandchildren, Justin & Erin Doggett, Jacob, Joshua & Jordan Shoemaker, Haley & Amber Warr, Brock & Mason Hughes, Grant Hughes; and 1 brother-in-law, Delbert Palmer & wife Dorothy of Center. Pallbearers will be Blake Outlaw, Carter Outlaw, Joey Outlaw, Whit Outlaw, Jeremy Pate, Brad Hughes & Brent Hughes.
