Obituary provided by Frankie Randall . ====================================== The following obituary was published in Herald Coaster on January 26, 1961: "Katherine Chew Dawson" Funeral services for Mrs. Katherine (Katie, 76, of 1514 Millie, were held from the First Christian Church of Rosenberg, at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, with Brother Howard Pierce officiating. Mrs. Dawson, 76, passed away at 5:25 a.m. Tuesday in the Schuhmann Hospital, East Bernard, Texas. Mrs. Dawson was a native of McKinney, Texas, but had lived in Rosenberg for 64 years. Her father was one of the first doctors in Rosenberg. He was Dr. Vernon Tilford Chew. Included among her survivors are: Two sons, William Dawson, Portland, Oreg.; Wylie Dawson, Huntsville, Texaas; five daughters, Mrs. J. L. Craig,Rosenberg; Mrs. Robert Goldstein, Rosenberg; Mrs. Milton Sheperd, South Gate, Calif.; Mrs. Gene Moore, Vallego, Calif.; Mrs. George Moscovis, Houston; one sister, Mrs. Jackie Cochran, Rosenberg; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Burial was in the W.O.W. Cemetery, Rosenberg. Pallbearers were: James Lane, Glen Walker, Sidney Ward, Alfred Jodarski, Frank Jodarski, Hohn Holstein. Arraangements under the direction of Garmany & Co., Rosenberg. * * * -------------------------
