Obituary (from the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow funeral home website): Mr. Eugene Theron Jeffus, age 78, of Garland, Texas passed away on October 26, 2004 in Garland. He was born on January 24, 1926 in Tishamingo, Oklahoma to Theron and Hermie (Haynes) Jeffus. He married Mattie Lou Mayes on March 23, 1957 in Irving, Texas. Mr. Jeffus served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a truck driver and was of the Church of Christ faith. He is survived by his children, James D. and wife, Toni of Royce City, Texas, Patsy and husband, Donnie of Garland, Texas, Johnny and wife, Marsha of Van Alstyne, Texas, Mary and husband, Eddie of Valiant, Oklahoma, Ester and husband, Lloyd of Denison, Texas, and Judy and husband, Dewy of Elk Rivers, Minnesota; brothers, J.D. Jeffus and wife, Marie of Ashborough, North Carolina and Oveda Jeffus of Ft. Worth, Texas; sisters, Geneva McCraine and husband, Tom of Bee Cave, Texas and Bennie Maus of Lewisville, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. Mr. Jeffus was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Jeffus; sister, Ruby Crosswhite; and parents. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, October 30, 2004 in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
