Evelyn Frances Kurecka Stiles, 79 of Taylor, Texas, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, surrounded by her loving family. Evelyn was born February 21, 1925, in Waterloo, Texas to Louis and Lydia (Kasparek) Kurecka. On December 14, 1946, she married John Vernon Stiles, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her three children; James "Bo" Stiles and wife Patricia, John and wife Glynda, and daughter Sarah Jezek, all of Taylor; seven grandchildren, Scott Jezek and wife Heather, Tracy White and husband Tim, Tammy Patin and husband Jimmy, Shane Stiles, Chase Stiles, Kristen Stiles, and Jason Stiles; and two great-grandchildren, Kayla and Devin Patin. Evelyn was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and special Friend to many. She was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church of Taylor, where she was active in Church Circle 6. For many years, she was a member of the Johns Community Hospital Auxiliary, Junior Women's Study Club, and Bridge Club. Evelyn loved to travel, especially to Czechoslovakia, where she enjoyed researching her family's history. She also enjoyed monthly family birthday celebrations, attending weekly Czech class, dining out with her friends, and baking her family's favorite pies and dishes. She truly enjoyed scrapbooking the highlights and accomplishments of her grandchildren and children. She'll be deeply missed by her family and friends. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 20 at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 21 at First United Methodist Church in Taylor, with the Rev. William Sterling officiating. Burial will follow at the Stiles Family Cemetery, south of Thrall, Texas. Pallbearers include Scott Jezek, Shane Stiles, Chase Stiles, Jason Stiles, Jimmy Patin, Tim White, and Chris Pittman. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Taylor. Providence Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
