Former Anchorage resident Charles Howard Williams, 91, of Boone, Iowa, died Sept. 11, 2004, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa. A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Boone, with the Rev. Paul Peebler officiating. Burial will be in Mineral Ridge Cemetery near Ridgeport, Iowa. Mr. Williams was born June 7, 1913, in Boone County, Iowa, to Abner and Ida (Richardson) Williams. He attended country school in Boone County. Mr. Williams farmed in Boone County in his younger years. In the early 1950s, he moved to Anchorage, where he drove a truck for road construction for the Teamsters Union. He retired in the early 1970s. Mr. Williams was a 25-year member of the Teamsters Union Local 959 and a seven-year member of the Laborers Union in Anchorage. He married Inez Wood on July 2, 1958, in Anchorage. He enjoyed fishing for red salmon and hunting for moose and caribou in Alaska In 1990, the couple moved to Boone. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his daughter, Frances Seekens; five sisters; and five brothers. He is survived by his wife, Inez of Boone; son, Keith Williams of Traverse City, Mich.; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Keith Parkinson of Connecticut, Janice Carrington of Sandy, Utah, Ruth and Dan Sharp of Denison, Texas; stepchildren and spouses, Theresa Davis of Colton, Ore., Sheri and Andre Layrel of Fairbanks, Earle and Kathy Peet of Pittsburg, Calif., and Larry and Elizabeth Peet of Wasilla; 21 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews Memorial donations are suggested to the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Arrangements are with Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home in Boone. -------------------------
