Elsie (Skolil) Skala, of St. Paul, Nebraska departed this life and entered The Eternal Home on December 29, 2009, at St. Francis Skilled Care in Grand Island, Nebraska. Elsie was 95 years of age having been born on June 3, 1914, in Arcadia, Nebraska to Emil and Ida (Radil) Skolil. Elsie was raised in Arcadia, Nebraska and then moved to a farm east of Ord, Nebraska in 1920. She attended Ord (Nebraska) High School. Elsie was united in marriage to William Skala on Jan. 28, 1936, in Ord, Nebraska. The couple lived and farmed in the Ord, Nebraska area until 1945 when they moved to Ord, Nebraska. They moved to St. Paul, Nebraska in 1950. Elsie worked at the Howard County Hospital in St. Paul, Nebraska, the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant and Delicious Foods both in Grand Island, Nebraska. She then worked at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul, Nebraska. She enjoyed playing cards and traveling. Elsie was a member of the St. Paul (Nebraska) United Methodist Church and the Christmas Club of St. Paul and Farwell, Nebraska. Elsie is survived by: son and daughter-in-law, E. W. (Willie) and Lori Skala of Grand Island, Nebraska; daughters and son-in-law, Wilhelmina and Lores Wolf of Grand Island, Nebraska and Darlene Polk of Crystal River, Florida and a host of friends and relatives. Elsie was welcomed into The Heavenly Home by: her parents, Emil and Ida Skolil; husband, William Skala; daughter Arlene Skala and four sisters, Emma Novotny, Viola Kolar, Elaine Schriner and Elma Hrebec.
