MSGT. GEORGE WESSON U.S. Air Force, Retired George Clay Wesson, 70, of Las Vegas, passed away Dec. 27, 2009. He was born Dec. 11, 1939, in Muskogee, Okla., and was a 30-year resident of Nevada. George served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged after 20 years. He was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal (with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster) and the Meritorious Service Medal. He was a longtime member of the American Society of Safety Engineers and, at the time of his death, George was director of Environmental Health, Safety and Security at Soka University of America, in Aliso Viejo, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alma and Cecil Wesson; and dear friends, George and Theo Huber and Donald Peterson. George is survived by his wife, of 42 years, Kaye; daughter, Elizabeth (Gary) Jewitt; granddaughters, Kate, Shelby and Hannah; and two sisters, Sally and Ramona. Viewing will be 9-10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, with the funeral following at 10:30 a.m., both at the LDS Chapel, 1001 N. Christy Lane (at Harris), in Las Vegas. Burial will be at noon Monday, Jan. 4, at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Boulder City. Donations can be made to the American Heart Association .
