An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Friday, March 28, 1958: Funeral services for Carl D. Sadler, 67, former Gatesville resident and a veteran Central Texas druggist, were held Wednesday afternoon at Wilkirson and Hatch Chapel in Waco, Dr. G. Alford Brown officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery here. Pallbearers were W. E. Taylor, Cecil Willis, 0. D. Russell, Dr. Joe Carl McElhannon, Herbert Edwards and Virgil Curry. Mr. Sadler died in his sleep early Tuesday at his home in Waco. He had been in Gatesville Monday to attend funeral services for his brother-in-law, Robert E. Powell. Mr. Sadler, a native of Valley Mills, was with the Gatesville Drug Co. from 1912 until 1918, when he went into the armed services. After the end of the first World War, he returned to Gatesville and was with the Carlton Bros, store until 1923, when he moved to Waco and opened the Heights Drug Store. He sold the store in 1943 and opened the Sadler Pharmacy at 25th St. and Grim Avenue in Waco. He sold the Sadler Pharmacy last October and retired on account of his health. Surviving Mr. Sadler are his widow, Mrs. Annie Sadler; a son, Robert C. (Bob) Sadler of San Antonio; a daughter, Miss Betty Ann Sadler of Tokyo, Japan; two brothers, Frank Sadler of Houston and Van Sadler of San Saba; and four sisters, Mrs .T C. McElhannon, Miss Louise Sadler, Miss Estelle Sadler and Mrs. J. C. Cook, all of Waco.
