An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Thursday, December 25, 1986: Nollie Thomas Horne, 60, of Gatesville died Dec. 18 at Coryell Memorial Hospital. Services were held Dec. 20 at Scott's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. M.V. Hemphill officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery. Born July 2, 1926, near Buffalo, he was the son of the late Nollie and Ida Horne. He was raised and attended School in East Texas. He served in the military from 1943 to 1965. Following his discharge, he was employed as a warehouseman with civil service until retiring in 1981. He married Mrs. Joe Ellen Walker Feb. 14, 1970. They made their home in Gatesville. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; one daughter Chris McDowell of Loring Air Force Base, Maine; five sons, Tommy Lee Horne of Greely, Colo., Jim Walker of Gatesville, David Walker of Gatesville, Keith Walker of Gatesville, and Larry Dean Walker of Austin; two sisters, Johnnie Mae Burkeen of Mexia and Annie Lee Hastings of Houston; four brothers, Mark Horne of Buffalo, Jim Horne of Madisonville, J. A. Horne of Arkansas, and Robert Horne of Virginia; and 12 grandchildren. Pallbearers at the funeral were Jack Herring, Charles Herring, Billy Joe Herring, Raymond Floyd, Rusty Sharp and Jimmy Sharp.
