Abraham L. McWhirter was the son of Isaac McWhirter and his first wife, Adeline (Miller) McWhirter, of Sumner County, TN. He married Sallie Beard in Sumner on 19 Nov 1882. Abe and Sally had 5 children, all b. Clay, Saline, MO: 1. Hugh Love, b. 25 Nov 1883, d. 28 Nov 1942 Seattle, King, WA. 2. Lawrence Fergeson, b. 24 Mar 1885, d. 12 Dec 1960. 3. Samuel Burney, b. 25 May 1887, d. 11 Apr 1940, Marshall, Saline, MO. 4. Hannah E., b. Jan 1889, d. possibly 1960 in Slater, Saline, MO. 5. Fred Price, b. 30 Jan 1894, d. Nov 1964 in MO. All married.
