Bio

Joyce Slothower died on January 19, 2007 at the age of 94. She was born to Otto and Amelia Van Cleave on July 2, 1912 in Broken Bow, Nebraska and was the only girl and the eldest of 5 children. The family moved to New Raymer, Colorado and then later to McFadden, Wyoming where Joyce married Elmer Slothower on August 16, 1930. Joyce and Elmer moved to Casper, Wyoming in 1949 and then to Lance Creek, Wyoming in 1959. After retiring from the oilfield they moved back to Casper. They finally moved to Yuma in 1984. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband in 1995, and is survived by her brothers Ted Van Cleave, of Fort Collins, Colorado and Pete Van Cleave, of Sidney, Nebraska; her son Jack (Chris) Slothower, of Reno, Nevada; and her daughter, Beverly (Dick) Mangis, of Yuma; five grandchildren, Roxanne Williams, of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Renee (Mark) Robbins, of Tucson, Jeff Man11gis, of Yuma, Jennifer (Rob) Henderson, of Yuma and Curtis Slothower, of Reno, Nevada; 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Joyce, was known as Gram throughout her family and was a devoted homemaker, constantly showing her love for her grandchildren and their children. She will be remembered for her loving kindness and dedication to her family. There are no services by request. Kammann Mortuary will handle cremation arrangements.
