Mrs. Sarah A. MeClean passed away July 28, 1918 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Mohatt (Agnes Cecelia McClean Mohatt) aged 77 years 1 month and 17 days. Sarah Agnes Littlewood was born in Scotland while her parents were visiting. there, returning to Ireland, where she resided until she was 14 years old (1855), when she came to America to visit her sister at Huntington, Long Island. She was married to Hugh S McClean in Brooklyn, New York, September 8, 1860 (age 19). Their married life was blessed with 9 children, 4 of whom now survive her. Her husband preceeded her 9 years. She moved with her husband and children to Nebraska in 1883, settling near Weissert where they resided until 1905, when they moved to Broken Bow. For the past 5 years she has made her home with her youngest daughter, Mrs. Frank Mohatt (Agnes Cecelia McClean Mohatt). Besides a host of sorrowing friends there are left to mourn her death, her 4 children, William, James T., Elizabeth Thomas and Cecelia Mohatt, 20 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Her 2 sons were unable to attend the funeral. Out of town relatives were Mrs. Elizabeth Thomas, of Southerland, Nebraska, Mrs. Mary Calvert, of Analey, James and Frank Shanley, of Brownlee, Nebraska, Tom Shanley, of Thedford, Nebraska. She was laid to test beside her husband in the Catholic cemetery. Father James officiating.
