Bio
Gladys Martin Carlton, of Lubbock, departed this life on Dec. 15, 2009, at the age of 95 years. She was born in Marietta, Okla. on Aug. 10, 1914 to John and Lydia (Cooper) Martin. Mrs. Carlton graduated from Oklahoma High School. Gladys later married Woodrow W. Carlton. Mrs. Carlton worked for the State Highway department as a receptionist before retiring. She was a beloved member of First United Methodist Church in Lubbock. Gladys was a shop-a-holic. Among her treasured friends, is Patti, her personal shopper from Dunlap's. Gladys loved life and she always loved her visits from J.L. and the wonderful candy and flowers he sent from Hawaii. Those left to cherish her memory are Becky Taylor and family, and many wonderful friends. Mrs. Carlton was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Woodrow. Memorials may be made in honor of Mrs. Carlton to Meals on Wheels, 2304 34th St., Lubbock, TX 79411. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. today in Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock, with Rev.
