Upon graduating from Granger High School, Mary moved to Austin and began her life-long career as a telephone operator with Southwestern Bell and AT&T. She retired from AT&T in 1992. After retirement, she and her husband moved from Pflugerville, TX to a family farm east of Jarrell, TX where she enjoyed being surrounded by her attentive and beloved family. She loved family trips to Rockport, TX taking the grandchildren fishing and annually dressing up for Halloween. She is survived by her son James, daughter Theresa Smith and her husband Maurice; son David and his wife Jennifer. Her grandchildren Clint Smith, and Timothy and Jordyn Havelka will miss her greatly. Other family members include her sister Helen Marak -Walker and husband Forrest, sister-in-law Betty Marak, sister-in-law Dorothy Marak, and a whole legion of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
